Drinking water before eating aid weight loss

Drinking water before eating a meal has been shown to help people lose weight because they end up consuming less food.

By drinking water, a person is filling their stomach so that there is less room for food, thus they feel full sooner thus they do not eat as much as they would if they had not drunk liquid prior to chowing down. This interesting finding came from a study funded by the Institute for Public Health & Water Research.

Researchers recruited 48 adults for their study, splitting them up into two groups. One group followed a low calorie diet but were not asked to drink water before meals, & the second group followed the same diet, plus two glasses of water before each meal. After 12 weeks, the water group on average lost 15lbs, compared to 11lbs in the no water group.

For good health it is recommended that we consume up to 8 glasses of water a day, but if adding an additional few glasses helps us eat less then why the heck not?
