According to the recent study released at the international AIDS conference in Vienna, poverty seems as the most important factor that low-income people are likely to be infected more with the AIDS virus.
The study was conducted on the survey in 2006 & 2007 of 9,000 heterosexual adults, between 18 to 50 years of age. The study came with findings that about 2.4% of the people are HIV infected, who are living below the federal poverty line. Also 1.2% of people in the same neighborhoods are found with HIV infection.

According to the recent study, people living under poverty are infected with the virus. But, low-income neighborhoods are also likely to be infected more because they live with people who are infected. They may 've used illegal & improper drugs or treatments, which put them at higher risk of HIV virus.
