Alcohol promotes unsafe sex!

TORONTO: One among the most common trend among the youngsters is consumption of alcohol. The consumption of alcohol, which gives a high, has long been associated with unprotected sex. A latest study relates it to HIV infection.

In spite of substantial efforts to prevent unsafe sex, HIV incidence in most high-capital countries remains unchanged over the past decade or has increased in some instances. According to the reports of the journal Addiction, alcohol consumption especially heavy drinking, has long been associated with HIV incidence. However, there 've been doubts about the cause-&-effect relationship.

Jürgen Rehm, professor in addiction policy at the Dalla Lana School Public Health, University of Toronto & the principal study investigator says that drinking has a causal effect on the likelihood to engage in unsafe sex & thus should be included as a major factor in preventive efforts for HIV.

According to a Toronto statement, the study summarises the results of twelve experiments that tested this cause-&-effect relationship in a systematic way. They found that alcohol consumption affects decision-making, & that this impact rises with the amount of alcohol consumed. The more alcohol that participants consumed, the higher their willingness to engage in unsafe sex.
