A recent study has claimed that cherry juice is beneficial for curing insomnia.
People who drank a glass of unsweetened cherry juice in the morning & evening enjoyed sound sleep than when they drank the same amount of some other juice.
The effect of cherry juice could be due to the fruit’s high content of melatonin, a hormone that regulates the body’s sleep-wake cycle, Wilfred Pigeon, a psychiatrist
“Given the side-effects of some medications, it is encouraging to 've a natural alternative,” said Pigeon, whose findings are published in the Journal of Medicinal Food.
- Cherries contain a compound called anthocyanins[a compound responsible for alleviating inflammation in the body] which gives them their rich red color & is believed to help relieve inflammation in the body.
- Cherry juice is a good remedy in relieving pain associated with arthritis. The anthocyanins in cherries offer ten times the pain-relieving equivalent of an aspirin.
- Anthocyanins are strong fighters against cancer [abnormal cells that divide without control, which can invade nearby tissues or spread through the bloodstream & lymphatic system to other parts of the body], stroke risk & heart attacks. This is according to the researchers.
